Meals

Our kitchen is run in-house by our fully trained, experienced Catering Manager and her team.

We offer excellent, well balanced, healthy school meals with a choice of hot food and a daily salad bar.  All dishes are prepared on the premises using fresh ingredients, including locally sourced fresh fruit and vegetables.  Children are actively encouraged to try new things as well as old favourites.  However, we are also aware of the value of educating children to appreciate that everything is good in moderation; therefore each Friday is a “Fun” meal.  We also have themed lunches when we offer the opportunity to try food from other countries such as China, Greece and India

We are more than willing to accommodate those with special dietary requirements.

Children starting school and staying for cooked meals are of course expected to be capable of handling a knife and fork and feeding themselves.

Facilities are also available for children who prefer to bring a packed lunch.

Parents wishing their children to change from cooked meals to packed lunches are requested to give one full week's written notice.

PAYMENT OF DINNER MONEY

It is our policy that all Dinner monies must be paid in advance.  This can be weekly, monthly or half-termly and can be in cash or by cheque (made payable to 'Holwell Primary School').  If you choose to pay weekly, this should be on a Monday morning and sent to the Office Administrator in a cash-safe sealed envelope with the child’s name, year and what the payment is for clearly written on the outside.  Envelopes suitable for cash are sold at school at the cost price.

If you wish to pay half-termly please let the Office Administrator know.  An account will then be issued each half-term with credit given for absences.

FREE SCHOOL MEALS

Families who receive Income Support or Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance are eligible for free school meals and should make application directly to Children, Schools and Families.  Details on how to do this are available from the Office.  Proof of benefit will be required for any claim.
