Welcome, Year 4 parents/carers and children,

Please keep checking back here for more information each week.

A list of useful websites has been uploaded onto the school closure - general information page. This could help you extend your child's learning further.

There is also a link to another activity pack you can complete with your child on the general information page.

As well as the work provided we expect you to still be using Times Tables Rockstars to help your child practice their multiplication skills. Children will also need to continue regular reading at home. This could be a good opportunity for your child to practice their reading skills and grow in confidence in their ability.

Thank you,

Miss Thomas & Miss Hooper (Red Kites)

Miss Webster & Miss Franklin (Swans)

Home learning for week beginning 13.7.20

We can't believe we are writing this, but here is the work for the LAST week of term! Thank you for all of your hard work over the lockdown period. Miss Thomas and Miss Webster have been really impressed with how well you have adapted and how much effort you have been putting into your learning! We hope you have a great week and we can't wait to see your final pieces of work!

For the week beginning 13th July the work that should be completed is as follows:

Maths: This week please continue your work on shape and symmetry. The link is below and you need to carry on from where you left off last week... for your year group, working on one lesson a day.

https://classroom.thenational.academy/year-groups/

A few activities or games will also be set on Purple Mash. Remember to use TTRockStars to keep up those times tables skills. .

Reading: Reading work will continue as it has been working - please see the leaflet for details.

Please see the Summer Reading Challenge information below. Would be great for lots of you to get involved.

Writing:  The topic for the last week is still "Time Tunnel". This week we are asking for 2 pieces of writing again, however you can choose the famous person from history you would like to focus on. This week we are asking the children to complete the following two pieces of writing:

  1. Write a diary entry for your chosen famous person in history - choose a specific/important day in their life to write about.

  2. Write a fact file about your chosen famous person in history. How much can you find out about them?

Please see the leaflet for the requirements for the activities. They do need to be completed by hand to ensure that writing skills are being practised.  Email your finished work in and it will be marked.

Times Tables Rock Stars

Calling all Rockstars...

Miss Carlin has set up teachers versus students battles. This means you will be

competing against your teachers.

The battles will commence every Monday.

Get practising and earning those coins.

Good luck and see if you can beat your teachers!

Online Safety

Dear parents and carers,

You have been emailed an attachment and link about online safety so please check your emails for these.
Just in case you can't access them through the email, they are here too.
It gives some guidance and insight into some of the usual as well as the latest apps and websites and the dangers they pose for children and tips on keeping them safe.  This is especially important at present where we are expecting children to access online learning but this may not be supervised all the time.

Stay safe,
Miss Thomas and Miss Webster

Year 3 and 4 spellings...

It would be a good idea to keep practicing the Year 3 and 4 spellings whilst at home. We have done a lot at school, so it would be good to keep this up!

It would also be a good idea to look up the dictionary definitions for the words you practice and put them into sentences of your own so you can use them in context. If you don't have a dictionary at home, type the word into Google and it will give you the definitions.

Happy spelling!
