Holwell Primary School Menu

At Holwell Primary School, we believe that healthy eating is a vital part of helping children grow, learn, and thrive. We encourage pupils to make positive food choices that give them the energy and nutrients they need for active learning and play. By promoting balanced meals that include plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and protein, we help children develop healthy habits that can last a lifetime. When pupils eat well, they are more alert, more focused, and better able to participate fully in the school day. Supporting healthy eating is an important part of our commitment to nurturing the wellbeing and long-term health of every child in our care.

Catering Information

At Holwell Primary School, we are proud to run our school kitchen in house, led by our experienced and fully trained Catering Manager, Mrs Chalkley, and her dedicated team.

We provide well balanced, nutritious meals every day, offering a choice of hot dishes, cold dishes and jacket pototatoes. All meals are freshly prepared onsite using high quality ingredients, including locally sourced fruit and vegetables whenever possible. Children are encouraged to explore new flavours while still enjoying familiar favourites. We also believe in teaching children about balance and moderation, giving pupils the chance to enjoy a treat within a healthy eating framework. To broaden pupils' food experiences and cultural understanding, we also host themed lunches throughout the year, celebrating cuisines from around the world, such as Chinese, Greek, and Indian dishes.

We are always happy to cater for children with special dietary requirements please contact us to discuss your child’s needs.

Children starting school and staying for cooked meals are expected to be capable of handling a knife and fork and feeding themselves. Facilities are also available for children who prefer to bring a packed lunch. Please see our Healthy Eating Policy for guidance on packed lunches.
