Safeguarding

Holwell Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection Policy which can be viewed in the Policies section of our website. We follow 'Keeping Children Safe in Education' carefully. All appointments including volunteers working at Holwell are subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare.

We actively support the Government’s Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is: Mrs O'Flaherty - Safeguarding and Welfare Lead

Our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) is:  Mrs Crellin - Associate Deputy Headteacher

Our Designated Safeguarding Officers (DSO) are: Miss French - Headteacher, Mrs Adams - Deputy Headteacher, Mr Carter - SENCo and Mr Shepherd - Learning Mentor

If you have a safeguarding concern please report your concern to a DSL via the office.

Lock-down Procedures

At Holwell Primary School, we take safeguarding and safety very seriously. It is important that we continue to review all our procedures, taking into account even those events that are very unlikely to occur. As part of this process, we have introduced a new procedure called “lock-down”.

Last year we carried out a practice which allowed the children to understand the procedures. It is important these procedures are regularly practised and reviewed and therefore we will be carrying out a practice on Tuesday 15th November.
