At Holwell Primary School, teachers and teaching assistants use a range of approaches to support children with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities. Every child benefits from high quality first teaching in the first instance where teachers respond to diverse learning needs and provide an effective learning environment in which the contribution of all pupils is valued. Teachers plan the pace of work and monitor progress so that everyone has a chance to learn effectively and achieve a personal level of success. Each individual's requirements for curriculum access will be met through greater differentiation of tasks.

Additional provision will be offered when identified as necessary to support individual needs by mainly addressing English or Maths skills to further the understanding of class work. Teaching Assistants also lead targeted individual support through small group or 1:1 sessions to complement and refine taught skills across the curriculum.
